Dr. Carolyn B. Sorkin, PhD is a licensed clinical psychologist who provides psychotherapy to individuals and their families ages ranging from 6 – 90. In addition to her private practice, Dr. Sorkin is also the Director of the Child and Adolescent Externship for the William Alanson White Child and Family Center. Her specialties include anxiety, depression, eating disorders, interpersonal and family-based difficulties, school concerns, and parenting.
She received her PhD from The New School for Social Research and has been trained in CBT, DBT, and interpersonal/relational psychoanalytic techniques. She works from an attachment-based perspective with a focus on attunement and repairs. Dr. Sorkin completed her training at Bellevue Hospitals where she worked inpatient, outpatient, and in psychiatric emergency rooms for children, adolescents and adults.

· Oversee the WAWI Child and Adolescent externship which consists of 4-5 doctoral students. This training program offers a comprehensive externship of 20hrs/week. Externs gain clinical experience seeing 2-3 patients in individual psychotherapy from an Interpersonal perspective and have substantial contact with parents and schools (when indicated). Externs do a minimum of three psychoeducational evaluations, and there is weekly individual and group supervision.
